Police offering social media safety discussion

NEW PALESTINE — Indiana State Police and the Internet Crimes against Children Task Force will host a presentation Wednesday night at New Palestine Intermediate School about the potential dangers and consequences for students who use social media.

The presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria at New Palestine Intermediate School, 5613 W. County Road 200S.

Police will educate parents and families on the risks associated with sexting, cyber- bullying, child pornography and child predators, officials said. The information provided will help parents stay current on the ever-evolving world of social media and how their children interact with each other online, officials said.
