GREENTOWN

June Rose Mason, 92, on Oct. 3, 2018, at 1:06 a.m. went to be with the Lord and Joe. She was born 6/26/26 at home to John and Nellie (Lockwood) Dosch in Auburn Indiana.

She was married to Joe Mason on 10/6/46 and they were married for more than 67 years. Together they raised four children Jinger (Ron) George, Greentown, IN, Jo (Bob) Almond, New Palenstine, In, Judd (Nancy) Mason, Leesburg, IN, and Judy (Jeff) Childs, Kokomo, IN. Their family grew to include 8 Grand Children, Michael(Kim) Shepherd, Chuck (Mary Beth) Shepherd, John (Carissa) Shepherd, Bobby (Tiffany) Almond, Brian (Jamie) Almond, Kristin (Curt Barkey) Mason, Kelley (Eric) Jacobsen, and Katie Childs, 12 Great Grandchildren, 2 Bonus Grandchildren, Kelli (Kenny) Austin and Michelle (Bob) Atkinson. 8 Bonus Great Grandchildren and 4 Bonus Great Great Grandchildren.

June’s most important jobs in life were wife and mother. She enjoyed her 10 years as a seamstress in the alterations’ department for JC Penneys. As the owners of JEM Farm Services, June and Joe, along with their son Judd, served the local farmers for more than 40 years.

June was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Kokomo and Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Naples FL in the winter months. June was a 10-year 4-H Member and a 4-H Leader for more than 20 years. She was an active member of Extension Homemakers Association for more than 70 years attending their annual Conference for more than 60 years. June and Joe were avid travelers. They had visited every state excluding Alaska and most Continents. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She would beat everyone at Euchre. She loved pulling in a nice big Bluegill and cruising on her Pontoon on Hamilton Lake. Her favorite hobby was conversation. She will be missed by many.

June was proceeded in death by her husband Joe, her parents John and Nellie Dosch, Siblings Frank Dosch and Ruby Clarke Houser and son-in-law Don R Shepherd.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Christ Lutheran Church 341 S. Dixon Road, Kokomo with Reverend Sharon Walker officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown following the service. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home 112 E. Main St. Greentown with an hour of calling at the church before the service . Also on Friday at 7:30 p.m. there will be an Indiana Extension Homemakers Association Memorial Service. To honor June, all IEHA members are welcome to participate.

The family would like to give a huge thank you to three very special women, who’s care for both of their parents provided much comfort to them. To Carissa Shepherd, her Granddaughter, for her many house calls and unending loving care, to Laura Agness for her many years of kind caring and friendship and to Pastor Sharon Walker for her continuous Spiritual guidance for all of the family.

June requested contributions be made to the Joe and June Mason Memorial Music Fund at Christ Lutheran Church of Kokomo or to the Howard County Extension Homemakers First Books for Kids Program. To truly honor her never meet a stranger and always be kind.
