Rita Mae Sermersheim, 95, a resident of Greenfield passed away Sunday morning September 23, 2018 at Golden Living Center at Brandywine.

She was born April 24, 1923 in Jasper, Indiana to the late John F. and Mayme (Dudine) Schneider.

Rita graduated from Jasper High School in 1941. She spent most of her time working diligently alongside her husband in several businesses they started over the years. In Indianapolis, these included manufacturing Geronimo Trooper, Score Beverages and More Beverages and distributing Rosati Italian Ice and Ol’ Bob Miller’s Sas’parilla, In Jasper, the Tots ‘n Teens children’s clothing store was a fixture at 503 Main Street from 1947 to 1964. Rita also spent time as a secretary and bank teller. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Greenfield

and active in several organizations in Jasper. Rita was the first president of the Jaycee Wives of Jasper. She was a former member of Tri Kappa Greenfield, was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry (Patty) Sermersheim of Ft. Wayne, Glenn (Sheila) Sermersheim of Indianapolis, daughter, Alice (Jim) Snellenberger of Greenfield, sister, Camille Goehausen of Leawood, Kansas, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents listed above, husband, Cyril A. “Sam” Sermersheim, daughter, Lynne Lee, grandson, Adam Sermersheim and 5 brothers; Ralph, Maury, Fr. Ambrose, Norbert & Jerome Schneider.

A memorial funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church of Greenfield. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Inurnment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
