INDIANAPOLIS
Jo Ann (Smith) Harper, 85, of Indianapolis, IN., passed away on August 26, 2018. Jo Ann was born September 20, 1932, in New Palestine, IN., to Clarence Smith and Georgia (Travelstead) Smith. After completing her education, she later met and married her husband, Robert Lee Harper on March 4, 1951. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2017. Jo Ann began her work career at Western Electric as a secretary. She was employed as the school secretary at New Palestine Elementary for several years. Her general office work for Ft. Harrison served the engineering division. Her great joy in life came from her love of music and flower gardening.
Jo Ann is survived by her son, Mark (Joyce) Harper; daughter, Pam (Thomas) Dykes; daughter, Angela Morton; son, Bryan (Vickie) Harper; and daughter, Valerie Henderson. In addition to her husband, Robert Lee Harper, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, John Smith. A graveside service for Jo Ann will be held Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine, IN.
