GREENFIELD — Greenfield Police Department detectives arrested two suspected drug dealers following a traffic stop and the subsequent search of an apartment Thursday.

They say evidence recovered during the investigation suggests the pair “were a major source of narcotics throughout central Indiana,” according to a news release.

Narcotics detectives had been monitoring the pair for some time, police said. When one was seen leaving an apartment in the 2700 block of Bluestone Drive in Greenfield in a small SUV Thursday, patrol officers stopped the car.

The driver, Nicholas Tourville, 36, of Greenfield had a warrant for his arrest out of Florida. There, he’d been accused of dealing narcotics, police said.

Search warrants were obtained for the car and the apartment.

Inside the car, police found a large quantity of cocaine, police said.

As a result, Tourville was taken to the Hancock County Jail. He faces preliminary charges of dealing cocaine, possession of cocaine and maintaining a common nuisance.

In the apartment, officers located methamphetamine, Xanax, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a handgun with the serial numbers filed off of it, police said. Officers also located a large trash can with a white powder residue in a bathroom suggesting that additional narcotics were destroyed while officers were executing the search warrant, according to the news release.

Diana Stewart, 35, who lived in the apartment, was detained and eventually transported to the Hancock County Jail, police said.

She faces dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of an altered handgun, possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
