Marauders officially kick off fall season

After a Tuesday rainout, the Mt. Vernon girls golf team got the fall sports season started with a Wednesday match against Shelbyville.

The Marauders picked up the win by a score of 182 to 209. Freshman Meredith Johnson was medalist with a 39.

New Palestine sets annual sports parent meeting

New Palestine’s annual kickoff all sports parent meeting will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the NPHS auditorium.

Parents will get all the new and pertinent information for the upcoming athletic seasons including winter and spring sports information, along with updated schedules. All-sports passes will be available to purchase, and the NP athletic booster club table will be set up for memberships, new apparel and senior parking spots for 2018-19, with only 50 available to purchase.

The meeting also will let parents tour the new Kelso Stadium and Shepler Field renovations.

All Sports Pass prices are:

Student Ticket: $65

Adult Ticket: $80

Seniors 65 and over: $65

Family of 4 or More: $250

Student Parking Spots: $50 for the year

Mooreland Free Fair sets run, walk event

The Mooreland Free Fair is hosting a series of runs and walks Aug. 11 starting at the Fairgrounds in Mooreland.

Options offered are a 10K Run, a 5K, a 5K Walk and a 1-mile Fun Run.

Registration for any of the events are due by Aug. 4. Check-in for the event starts at 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 11, with the events starting at 8:20 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for the 5K, 10K and Fun Run.
