Greenfield native name partner in company

The partners and staff of the Indianapolis officer of Kemper Technology Consulting announced that Christa N. Pike has been admitted as a partner of Kemper Technology Consulting, a division of Kemper CPA Group LLP.

Pike, a native of Greenfield, is a graduate of IUPUI, where she earned a bachelor of science in business, with a double major in accounting and finance.

Pike prior experience as a public accountant for small businesses enabled her to form an area of expertise in accounting applications when she joined Kemper Technology Consulting in 2013.

Cummins rakes in record revenue, exceeds  expectations

Cummins Inc. reported record quarterly revenue and a profit that exceeded Wall Street expectations.

The Columbus-based engine manufacturer posted revenue of $6.13 billion in the second quarter, up 21 percent from the same period of 2017. The revenue mark beat the consensus forecast of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research, who expected $5.75 billion.

Cummins reported a second-quarter profit of $545 million, or $3.32 per share, compared with $424 million, or $2.53 per share, in the year-ago quarter.

Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $4.14 per share, topping the average estimate of $3.67 per share from nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research.

Michigan-based tech firm acquires Indy company

Indianapolis-based tech company Dattus Inc. has been acquired by Troy, Michigan-based Plex Systems.

The deal, announced Tuesday, was finalized earlier this month. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Dattus provides internet-of-things solutions to manufacturers, helping them streamline operations through data collection, aggregation, visualization and analytics.

The company, which has its roots in the Purdue Foundry entrepreneurship hub in West Lafayette, has 14 employees—seven in Indianapolis and seven in India.

Nine of those employees will remain with Plex, but only two of them will remain in Indianapolis. Plex Systems has seven employees in Indiana after the acquisition.
