Betty Lou (Baugh) Cox, spouse of Abe Ben Cox, mother of six, and licensed daycare provider to many children as Betty-Mom, passed away on July 11, 2018, in the company of her family. Betty was instrumental in the care of hundreds of children in Hancock County over a period of more than forty years and many still remember and enjoy her family’s friendship. Betty and Abe celebrated fifty years of marriage in December 2017, along with many friends and family.

Betty was born and raised in Unionville, IN. Upon marriage, she and Abe moved to Indianapolis and rural Hancock County. Betty was the co-owner and operator of a beauty parlor in Bloomington, Indiana, prior to marriage.

She is survived by her always-close family: spouse, Abe; daughters, Angela Avers and husband David, Kelly Spoor and Chris Hannemann, Lisa Robbins, Kristy Clayton and husband Jamie; sons, Alan Cox and wife Colleen (Cummings), Duffy Cox preceded in death by wife LeeAnn (Dolick); and son-in-law Jeffrey Spoor and Michele Young. She was the proud grandmother of twenty. She is also survived by her sister Janet Mullis, and Betty’s nephew, Jimmy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Opal (Lundy) Baugh. All of the Cox’s children except Angela Avers, who lives in the Chicago area, still reside in central Indiana.

Services will be held at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN. Friends and family may gather for a visitation on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4PM-8PM. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 10AM until the time of service at 12PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
