Police: Officer’s stolen rifle found in Indy

GREENFIELD — A Greenfield Police Department officer’s department-issued rifle was stolen out of a marked patrol car and then recovered in Indianapolis, officials say.

The patrol car was parked at the officer’s residence and was broken into overnight Monday, according to investigators.

The officer’s department-issue Colt patrol rifle, a 30-round magazine and the key to the Pro-Gard rack that the weapon was kept in were stolen.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department found the rifle Monday evening inside a suspicious vehicle that was parked at an abandoned residence on Edgebrooke Court in Indianapolis.

Two individuals inside the car — 18-year-old Brendan Bodie and 18-year-old Antoine Christie, both of Indianapolis — were arrested and the car involved was impounded, police say.

Other items that were recently reported stolen from vehicles in Greenfield were also located, police say.

Bodie and Christie are being held in the Marion County Jail.
