Dragons duo advances to regional
New Palestine juniors Claire Cherry and Josee King moved on in the IHSAA individual tennis sectional Wednesday at North Central.
They continued their good form, defeating Warren Central’s Ashley Jarel and Morgan O’Conitrillo 6-2, 6-4.
Cherry and King are the sectional champions of the North Central individual sectional, and will next play in the regional June 2 at Fishers against the winner from Center Grove.
Marauders pass up Daleville, Frankton
Mt. Vernon won its last home match of the year against Daleville and Frankton, shooting a 149 to outdistance Daleville’s 186 and Frankton’s 188.
The Marauders’ two seniors led the way in their final match at home. Xavier Dunham was medalist with a 36 and Max Heitman shot a 37.
Other scores for the Marauders were Blake Johnson with a 38, Elijah Dunham with a 38, Sam McWilliams with 39, Haiden Rose with a 39 and John Husar with a 44.
