Cougars pick up road victory at Tri

Greenfield-Central was on the road at Tri on Tuesday, pulling away for a 9-7 win.

Seth Robertson led the offense with three RBIs on two hits, and Noah Ramsey also added two hits for the Cougars. 

Lucas Scroggins was the winning pitcher and Adam Hutchison got the save.

Royals fall behind early in loss

Eastern Hancock gave up the first five runs of the game Tuesday and couldn’t quite catch up, falling 6-4 to Frankton.

A.J. Muegge and Andrew Knoblock led the Royals offense with two hits each, with Muegge adding a double and two RBIs. 

Knoblock took the loss on the mound, pitching a complete game with seven strikeouts and nine hits allowed.

Softball

Royals roll to run-rule win

Eastern Hancock cruised to a five-inning road victory Tuesday, beating Cowan 12-0.

The Royals got two hits each from Faithe Webster, Rachel Jessup and Eriel Truitt. Paige Wickard led the way with four RBIs. Webster and Hannah Lewis tripled in the game, while Truitt and Wickard doubled. 

Jessi Potts pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out 11 and walking just one. She gave up only two hits in the win.

Cougars get past Richmond

Greenfield-Central won a low-scoring contest Tuesday, besting Richmond 4-1.

Madge Weidner pitched a complete game and earned the win, striking out six and allowing just the one earned run.

Maria Kihega had a two-run homer for the Cougars, and Caroline Gibson had a 2 for 3 day at the plate.

Golf

Cougars lose close match

Greenfield-Central lost a close match Tuesday, falling to Pendleton Heights by five strokes, 154-159.

The top scorer for Greenfield-Central was Zach Archer with a 39.

Royals fall to Knightsville

Eastern Hancock lost a home match against Knightstown on Tuesday, 190-198.

The Royals fall to 2-4 on the year in head-to-head matches.
