NEW PALESTINE — A New Palestine woman’s sighting of a large snake caused a stir on social media, but local animal management officials are calming resident’s concerns.
A video shared on Facebook over the weekend of what appeared to be a large rat snake spotted in a tree in a New Palestine nature preserve drew dozens of shares and comments — with some worried the creature might be dangerous or poisonous and calling for it to be removed.
But local animal management officials say they can’t take an animal from its natural habitat.
If residents see the snake in the wild, they should let to be.
