FRANKLIN

Mary Myrna Beck, 91, passed away on April 17, 2018 at the Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community in Franklin, Indiana. Myrna was born on April 20, 1926, the second child of Harry and Alice (Davis) Kidd. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Beck) Quick, sons Rev. Michael (Mickey) Beck, Mark (Nancy) Beck, and Keith Beck, and niece Marlene Richardson (Keith) Cook. She took great pride in her five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Maxine (Kidd) Richardson, and her husband, Rev. Glen Beck after sixty-seven years of marriage.

Myrna grew up in Fayette County Indiana and graduated from Alquina High School. She was married in 1943, and after World War II she and her husband lived on the family farm near Connersville, Indiana.

In 1955 she committed her life to Jesus Christ, and this led to a life of ministry in the United Methodist Church. She was a partner in ministry with her husband as he served appointments in Fayette, Rush, Shelby, Hamilton, Marion, and Johnson Counties. Their last full-time appointment was at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. Myrna loved leading the youth in the early years of their ministry, and she enjoyed being a part of groups like the Bible Study Fellowship which led to her being a highly respected leader of numerous Bible Study groups.

Myrna loved being with her family and having everyone at her house for family dinners. She was well known for her great cooking, and she even produced a cook book that is cherished by her family.
