Charles Richard “Charlie” Gant, 79, of Anderson, passed away at home on Saturday, April 7, 2018, surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 22, 1938, in Greenfield, Indiana, the son of Theodore “Ted” David Gant and Maxine Belle (Smith) Gant Apple Richwine. He graduated from Hancock Central High School where he played on the basketball team, graduating in 1956. He was employed by Delco Remy for 28 years, retiring on April 1, 1991. He attended Markleville North Christian Church and was a member of the Markleville Masonic Lodge #629. He and An were “Snowbirds” 25 years at Buttonwood Bay Resort in Sebring, Florida, where he was involved in the Drama Club, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and bowling.

Charlie is survived by his of 40 years wife, Almeta “An” (Nickelson) Gant, four children, Ted Gant, Jeri (Jimmy) Eaks, Annette Johnson, and Penny Barker; five stepchildren, Patricia (Glenn) Cox, Sheryl Maier, Barbara (Don) Kuhl, Polly (Micheal) Thompson, and Alva Dale (Kari) Richardson, II; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a brother, Raymond (Pat) Gant and stepsister, Sarah Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepsisters, Janie Andis, and Betty Epperson, stepbrother, David Apple and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Micheal D. Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. Masonic Memorial Rites will be done on Sunday at 4 p.m. by the Markleville Masonic Lodge.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Hancock Central Reunion Committee or the charity of the donor’s choice.
