HANCOCK COUNTY — During National Library Week, April 9 to 14, those with fines on their Hancock County Public Library cards can have them waived in exchange for non-perishable food in cans or boxes, or for unopened toilet paper, toiletries or laundry detergent (which food stamps don’t cover).

Baby care items are also welcome. These essentials will help stock the Hancock County Food Pantry.

Bring donations to the library check-out desks. Each item equals a dollar off fines, up to $5 maximum. “Food for Fines” does not include replacement fees for lost or damaged materials or collection agency fees.

The main library branch is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, and the Sugar Creek branch is at 5087 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine.
