Stephen G. Leavell, 66, of New Palestine, passed away January 31, 2018.
Steve was born on March 29, 1951 to the late Robert and Dorothy Leavell in Noblesville, Indiana, he received his degree in Architectural Engineering from Vincennes University and attended New Palestine United Church.
Steve was a designer and fabricator of stainless steel and worked all around Indianapolis and surrounding areas, he had an eye for design and was highly sought after for his natural talents. He had previously served as a head mechanic on a pit crew; cars and racing were his life passion. He could often be found at Fast Eddies in Richmond, driving the cars he built around the track and spending time with his friends. He loved slot cars, NASCAR and spending time repairing his own classic cars he had at home, and traveling to Michigan. He was a caring, husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 26 years, Lavina Leavell; daughter, Shawn Griggs (Craig); and grandsons, Tyler Gray (Kyli) and Jordan Gray.
Friends and family are invited to gather 4:00-8:00pm on Monday, February 5, 2018, with a funeral service to begin at 7:00pm at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East. He will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery, Tuesday, February 6th at 10:00am.
