NEW PALESTINE — Rachel Harrison is hoping the third time’s a charm for a consignment shop in New Palestine.

Harrison, 40, is the newest owner of The Branded Exchange, 5151 U.S. 52 West, New Palestine.

The clothing consignment store is under new ownership for the third time in the past couple of years. The clothing store was formally known as Mercy Lane, and before that, Between Friends.

Harrison, a mother of five, owns another consignment shop in Greenwood, also called The Branded Exchange, and said she feels the experience she’s had there the past year will help her be successful in New Palestine.

In addition to adding some fresh paint and cleaning up the shop, the Indianapolis resident is trying to build a reputation as a top-of-the-line consignment shop.

Patrons still can bring in gently used clothing, drop items off and get paid for the product when it sells, but Harrison is setting high standards for the items being sold in the store, hoping it will help attract more business.

“We’re going to be real picky and try to go with brand names and a higher quality of clothing,” Harrison said.

The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Harrison has owned the shop since August and it is open for business, but she plans a grand opening event Saturday, Nov. 11, during which she will offer 20 percent off to veterans to coincide with Veterans Day.

Harrison said New Palestine’s small town atmosphere is an ideal location for the consignment shop and is open to accepting clothing donations as well as paying for items.

People with fewer than 25 items to bring in can do so any time the shop is open; people with more than that are asked to make an appointment by calling 317-861-3210.

Shoppers also can see and place holds on merchandise at the company’s Facebook and Instagram pages, using The Branded Exchange Consignments.
