Pencils up: Library issues writing challenge for students
GREENFIELD — National Novel Writing Month, known as NaNoWriMo, takes place during November. Participants set a goal of writing an entire novel over the month-long project.
The Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, offers a workshop for students in Grades 3 through 12 interested in participating in NaNoWriMo.
Young writers are welcome to meet in the library’s computer lab from 4 to 5 p.m. each Wednesday evening for camaraderie and writing assistance.

Umbrella Arts registering for holiday ceramics workshop
GREENFIELD — Registration is under way for Santa’s Clay and Ceramics Workshop at the Pat Elmore Center, 280 Apple St.
The four-week class meets from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Nov. 28.
The program includes visual arts, history, science, foreign language and music.
The cost is $45 for residents and $48 for non-residents. Register at greenfieldin.org.
