GREENFIELD — They stepped up to the tank, positioned themselves and gave it their all, hoping they’d hit the bulls-eye and dunk their school leader.

Just before fall break, students at J.B. Stephens Elementary were rewarded with a dunk tank. Sitting in the hot seat was their school superintendent, Harold Olin.

Olin promised students if they reached their fundraising goal for the Hancock County Community Foundation’s Imagination Library fundraiser, they’d get a chance to try and dunk him.

District wide, students raised nearly $4,000 for the cause that puts books in the hands of Hancock County youngsters. J.B. Stephens students raised more than 25 percent of that funding.

On that day, Olin was dunked at least half a dozen times as students cheered and chanted watching him get dropped into a pool of water.
