GREENFIELD – Local leaders volunteered Wednesday evening to wait tables at Greenfield’s Jim Dandy restaurant to raise money for Alternatives Inc., the Anderson-based women’s crisis center that serves Hancock County residents.

Sheriff’s deputies, police officers, prosecutors and administrators for Greenfield-Central Schools took this public service to a new level, clearing tables and visiting with locals at the little diner, helping to spread word of the work Alternatives does to help victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

At the end of the evening, Jim Dandy’s owners planned to donate to Alternatives 50 percent of the proceeds and all the tips collected Wednesday night. The fundraiser comes in the middle of domestic violence awareness month.
