GREENFIELD — Greater Greenfield Ministerial Association will lead a National Day of Prayer service at noon Thursday on the Hancock County Courthouse Plaza.

This year’s theme for the National Day of Prayer is “For Your Great Name’s Sake,” based on Daniel 9:29.

Local clergy members, other ministry leaders and laypeople will lead prayers on various topics at the service.

Also, St. James Lutheran Church, 1741 S. State St., will open its chapel to the public for prayer from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

“Sometimes it is nice to have a place that is conducive to prayer and meditation,” said the Rev. Larry Gember, the church’s pastor. “St. James has a beautiful and quiet space—I would call it sacred space — that we are offering to members of our community.”
