Viola F. Stephens

Viola F. Stephens, 87, of Oregon, Ill., passed away March 10, 2017, at Oregon Living & Rehabilitation Center, Oregon, Ill. Born December 9, 1929, to Samuel and Myrtle (Million) Feeback in Rushville, Ind.

She married Wayne E. Stephens March 7, 1959, and lived in central Indiana for most of her life. Prior to her marriage, she worked at Western Electric in Indianapolis. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching the Game Show Network, cross-stitch, quilting, crochet and the music of Floyd Cramer. Viola loved hosting fun-filled Christmas Eve parties for many years; and delighted in babysitting her grandkids. She was a “Fun” Grandma, with very creative ideas. In later years she enjoyed the companionship of her dogs, “Bruiser” and “Skipper”.

Viola is survived by her sisters, Emma Lou Moore and Virginia Poston; brother, Glen; sons, Steven Hall and Russell (Ruth) Hall; stepdaughter, Shirley (Gaine) Hamilton; five grandchildren, Lauren Hamilton, Julie Hall, Gregory (Shannon) Hall, Emily Goins, Kelly (Chris) Vanderleek; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Naomi Jones and Teresa Eggers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years; parents; brothers, Thanuel and Earnest; sister, Gladys.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of traditional services at 1 p.m., on Saturday March 18, at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN.
