Robert “Bob” “Bobby” Earl Mays, 68, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. Bobby was the 7th child born to Robert and Louise Mays. He was born at Hancock Memorial Hospital on January 25, 1949.
He graduated from Greenfield Central High School in 1967. Bob worked for Chrysler for 31 years as a Tool and Dye machinist and for Richardson’s for 15 years. He enjoyed tinkering with computers, motorcycles, playing pool and spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, taking in many individuals who were down and helping them to get back on their feet again.
Bob is survived by his wife of 34 years, Julie (Bahmforth) Mays. His children, Tommy Mays, of Montgomery, Al., daughters, Chelsea (Paul) Horn,of Chandler, Ariz., Heidi Mays, of Phoenix, Ariz. and John Bahmforth, of Indianapolis. Granddaughters, Kelsea (Tyler) Austin of Chandler, Ariz., Taylor Mays (Garrett Manns) of Greenfield, Kinnidy Settles, Kelley Bourne, Samantha Horn, and Victoria Horn, all of Chandler, Ariz. Four great-grandchildren, Foster Fellez, Jr. (FJ), of Chandler, Ariz., Aubrey Mays, Jayceon Robert Mays, and Delilah Manns all of Greenfield. Siblings, Bill (Barb) Curry, Mary Anderson both of Greenfield, Jerry (Debbie) Marks of Veivay, Ind., Richard (Vania) Marks, Sandy (Jerry) Bundy, Jane (James) Hatcher all of Greenfield, Indiana, Rick (Amy) Mays of Fortville, Kim (George) Langston and Darla (Mike) Roberts bot of Greenfield and many, many, nieces and nephews.
Bob was proceeded in death by his mother, Louise Mays; his father, Robert Mays; grandmother, Nellie Marks; brother, Jackie Dale Marks; sister, Darlene Morris and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, at Realife Church in Greenfield, IN.
