WILKINSON — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the accidental shooting of a Greenfield Man. Dustin Fischer, 31, of Greenfield, and Johnathan Armstrong, 26, of Greenfield, were coyote hunting Saturday night on private property near Wilkinson. After an evening of hunting, both men returned to Armstrong’s truck. Armstrong placed his .223-caliber rifle on the rear floorboard of the pickup prior to Fischer returning to the truck. When Fischer laid his rifle in the floorboards as well, Armstrong’s rifle fired, striking Fischer in the left arm.  Armstrong and the landowner were able to apply a tourniquet to Fischer’s arm in an attempt to stop the bleeding.

Fischer was transported to Hancock Regional Hospital and then airlifted to St. Frances Hospital.

He was expected to undergo surgery Saturday evening for his injuries.
