Everett L. Skinner, 77, of Greenfield passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Kindred Health Care in Greenfield. He was born July 30, 1938, in Madison County, Ky., to the late Ollie Reed and Lillie (Suttles) Skinner.

Everett was retired from the Indianapolis Parks and Recreation Department where he served for 43 years. While at the parks department, Everett performed duties such as, heavy equipment operator, mechanic, and welder. He also supervised the construction of the Southeastway Park and was the District 6 parks supervisor. Everett enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed hunting trips to Canada where he harvested three large bears and participated in some moose hunts. Everett liked to spend time building muzzleloaders and tinkering with tractors and fly wheel hit and miss engines.

Everett is survived by his wife of 52 years, Wilma Louise (Adams) Skinner of Greenfield; great-niece, Judy Mead of Anchorage, Alaska; special friends, Victor and Tammy Neal of Hagerstown, Rozella Neal of Hagerstown, Nestor Muller of New Castle, Steve Hull of Greenfield and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his brother and five sisters.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 10, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Services will be at 1 p.m., Monday, July 11, at the funeral home with Elders David Brown and J.D. Beck officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
