Helen M. (Sylvester) Reger

Helen M. (Sylvester) Reger passed away on April 17, 2016. She was born in Indianapolis to Frank and Della Sylvester on May 1, 1921.

At a young age, the family moved to Ingalls where she attended Ingalls Grade School and Pendleton High School. She was married to Horace Reger on January 30, 1940. They were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage before his passing in 1990. She was a faithful member of the Ingalls Christian Church until its closing. She then moved her membership to Cyntheanne Christian Church.

Helen is survived by her children, Beverly Shull and Jay (Barbara) Reger; grandchildren, Nicole (Waco) Walker, Lance (Jeannie) Reger, Lynette Butler, Lana (Scott) Shreves and John (Jessica) Moore; 3 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and a baby girl on the way; sister, Joanna Free; brothers, Richard Sylvester, Harold (Peggy) Sylvester and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Sylvester and Gerald Dean Sylvester; grandsons,

Michael Free and Benjamin Moore and son-in-law, Carl Shull.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Linda Mardis for in home care, Hancock County Hospice nurses, Shawn Kearns of Kearns Comfort Care, and Sharon Rader Home Care for their excellent care. A special thanks to Tina Shull Brindley for her assistance throughout this journey.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 124 E. Staat Street, Fortville, IN 46040. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016 inside the chapel at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, 9088 W. 1025 S, Fortville, IN 46040. Pastor Larry Renihan will be officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery.
