Get registered now for swimming lessons

The Greenfield Community Aquatic Team is offering swimming lessons next month. The spring session is set for April 4 to 21.

Lessons are 30 minutes each and will take place Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks with six lessons overall.

The cost is $65 for group lessons with four to six swimmers or $100 for private lessons.

Available time slots include: 4 to 4:30 p.m.; 4:30 to 5 p.m.; 5 to 5:30 p.m.; or 5:30 to 6 p.m.

Online registration is open until April 1. Walk-in registration will be 6 to 7 p.m. today and Thursday at the Greenfield-Central Aquatic Center. Registration is available online at swimgcat.com.

Mt. Vernon guard among junior all-stars

Eighteen players have been selected for the IndyStar Indiana boys Junior All-Stars for 2016.

Mt. Vernon guard Michael Ertel will join the South group.

The Junior All-Stars will play two games against the IndyStar Indiana All-Star senior boys. Those games tentatively are set for June 7 and 9 at sites to be announced later.

Both dates will be doubleheaders with the Indiana Junior All-Star girls playing the Indiana All-Star senior girls in the first game. The girls’ games will begin at 6 p.m., with the boys’ games to follow. The coaches for the Junior All-Stars have not yet been announced.

Boys basketball state finals this weekend

The 106th annual Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Boys Basketball State Finals will take place on Saturday.

Four state champions in each of the state’s four classifications will be crowned at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, beginning with the Class A state championship at 10:30 a.m.

Two sessions will be conducted with Class A and 2A in the morning and Class 3A and 4A in the evening.

Admission to each session is $15.

IHSAA State Finals

Session I

Class A championship: Bloomfield (26-3) vs. Liberty Christian (25-4), 10:30 a.m.

Class 2A championship: Indianapolis Howe (23-7) vs. Lapel (25-4), about 12:45 p.m.

Session II

Class 3A championship: Evansville Bosse (19-10) vs. Griffith-Marion winner, 6 p.m.

Class 4A championship: New Albany (26-1) vs. McCutcheon (28-3), about 8:15 p.m.
