Harriett Rae (Owens) Miller, was on Aug. 20,1927, departed her earthly home on March 1, 2016. “Peg,” as she was known by family and friends, was born in Anderson, the younger daughter of Harold E. Owens and Mildred (Bartlett) Owens.

She attended Anderson schools and graduated with honors from Pendleton High School in 1945. She was employed in the bookkeeping department of Citizens Bank and then became secretary for the Joe Stine Real Estate and Insurance Agency in Anderson.

She was joined in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Jack Miller, on June 22, 1947, by the late Dr. Wesley Bransford in the First Methodist Church of Anderson. They had celebrated 68 years together.

She was a member of Pendleton Chapter #138 Order of Eastern Star and former member of The Olivian Society and Tri Kappa Sorority. She also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and on the Pendleton High School marching band uniform committee. As a student of Christian Science, she was an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Anderson, serving in many capacities. She also was a member of The Mother Church in Boston.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Jack; sons, Jack Bartlett Miller (Karen) and Tod Steven Miller (Carole); sister, Francine (Owens) Van Dyke of Inverness, Fla.; brother-in-law, Gene Strause (Dorothy) of Quitman, Texas; grandchildren, Eric David Miller of Grand Rapids, MI, Christopher Michael Miller and Katelyn Nicole Miller; two great-grandsons, Luke and Chace; two nieces and five nephews.

Preceding her in her journey were her parents, Harold and Mildred Owens; father-in-law, Theodore Miller; mother-in-law, Vera Miller; sister-in-law, Donna (Miller) Strause; niece, Robyn (Strause) Tyler and brother-in-law, Bill Van Dyke.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, Anderson, followed by a memorial service. Interment at Anderson Memorial Park will occur at a later date.
