Mary Ann Etherton, 99, a Franklin native, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Rosebud Village in Richmond, Ind., where she had resided for the past several months. She was born in Franklin, on Dec. 19, 1916, to Gordon and Elsie (Byrd) Boggs. She lived in Kenton, Ohio, before moving to Greens Fork, Ind.,in 2002.

Mary Ann is a member of New Testament Church of Christ in Hagerstown, IN and a former member of First Christian Church of Christ in Kenton. She graduated from Franklin High School, where she was on the debate team and won the “Golden Horseshoe” for her knowledge of West Virginia history. She was a graduate of Berea College, was a member of Pendleton County Historical Society and was active with genealogy.

Survivors include three sons, John Etherton (Cathy) of Mathias, W.V., Joe Etherton (Mary) of Greens Fork, Ind. and Jim Etherton (Debbie) of West Liberty, OH; five grandchildren; three great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Etherton, in 2003 and her siblings, John Boggs, Elizabeth Boggs and Grace Dyer.

Graveside services were held 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, at Grove Cemetery, Kenton.
