Shawn Suzette Hinds, 50, of Greenfield, passed away in her home after a long illness and joined her savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. Shawn was born in Muncie, on July 20, 1964. She was the wife of William Hinds, for 33 years, and the daughter of Larry Southerland of Muncie and Jimmie Hammond-Haltom of Greenfield.
She was a member of Evangel Christian Church in Greenfield, where she lived her faith by serving the Lord as well as the needs of all who knew her. Regardless of the task, Shawn tirelessly gave of herself, whether organizing and decorating for church events, strengthening others through prayer, or lending support to anyone who needed her. She had a gift for lifting the spirits of others when they most needed strength.
Family and friends appreciated and admired her keen eye and talent for decorating, often calling upon her to help put just the right touch in their homes. Regardless of the space, she knew exactly how bring it to life. Shawn loved all holidays, and her immaculate Christmas décor and creative Halloween costumes not only captured the essence of the season; they acted as another testament to her ability.
She had profound wit combined with an invigorating sense of humor and an infectious laugh that would elevate the spirit of anyone around her. She also possessed a strong competitive drive, and this shined through her love of games, especially “spoons” or “euchre” where she brought tremendous energy, enthusiasm, and a strong will to win.
Shawn was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister and aunt. Her family and friends will deeply miss her love, devotion, wit, humor and energy.
She is survived by her husband, William Hinds of Greenfield; daughters, Danielle (William) Hinds-Blackburn of Greenfield, Gabrielle (Kyle) Hinds-Alexander of Greenfield; mother, Jimmie (Bruce) Hammond-Haltom of Greenfield; sister, Victoria (Randy) Hammond-Farmer, along with their children, Aiden and Keeley Farmer of Fishers.
Funeral Service will be held at Noon on Friday, May 29, 2015, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, IN 47303, with Pastor Larry Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Noon, at the funeral home.
