Grade: Senior

Position: Shortstop

Stats: Rush reached base three times, going 2-for-3 with a walk in the Cougars’ 14-10 loss against Class 2A No. 1 Knightstown on Thursday. The senior connected on a two-run home run, his team-leading third homer of the season, to spot Greenfield-Central an early 2-0 leading. Those two RBIs gave him a team-best 15 for the season.

Royals up to bat against cancer

Eastern Hancock baseball and Hancock Regional Cancer Hospital will host a cancer awareness game at 10 a.m. on May 16 when the Royals host Frankton. Special jerseys will be worn by the varsity and junior varsity teams. Family and friends will have the opportunity to purchase the same special jerseys, with proceeds donated to the hospital.

Cost is $20, and jerseys can be customized with a first or last name of someone affected by cancer, along with a jersey number. Orders due by Wednesday.

Position: Outfielder

Stats: Baugh collected the Marauders’ only two hits in their 3-1 loss Thursday against Fishers. The junior’s sixth-inning home run, her team-high third of the season, was the only run Mt. Vernon scored. She finished the evening 2-for-3 and now owns the team lead in extra-base hits with seven. Through Thursday, she was batting .486 with on-base percentage of .523.
