Thomas Eugene Elliott, 97, passed away Feb. 20, 2015, at Community Hospital South. He was born Dec. 12, 1917, as the youngest of the six sons and three daughters of Lanson and Mary Elizabeth (Fesler) Elliott who have all preceded him in death as well as his first wife, Ruth Sutter Elliott.
He was in the Army Air Corp in WWII and Air Force Reserves following the war. He worked for American United Life Insurance Company from 1937 until his retirement in 1979. Tom was a 50 year plus member of New Palestine Lodge #404, American Legion member, avid golfer, bowler, and loved to travel. He was an Elder Emeritus who also served in many other church positions.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Cox Elliott of Indianapolis; daughter Barbara (John) Biersdorfer of New Palestine; grandchildren Judith Diane, Mary Elizabeth Armstrong, and Thomas John; great-grandchild Caitrin Armstrong; stepson Duane Cox of Fishers; stepgrandchildren, Daren Cox, Marci Herbert, and Michelle Mayes; and five great-stepgrandchildren whom he all dearly loved.
Visitation will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service beginning with a Masonic Service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. The Rev. Travis Hacker will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
