Turf project on hold at school

GREENFIELD — Greenfield-Central students won’t see artificial turf on their football field until fall of 2016, if not later.

School officials are still trying to raise donations of money and materials for the turf, which the school board has been mulling for months.

Superintendent Harold Olin told the school board Monday there is interest in the community from individuals and business owners who want to chip in supplies and labor — excavation work and foundation material, for example — but exact figures are not yet available. School officials expect the project will cost roughly $750,000.

The board asked for quarterly updates on the project.
