Mary Ann Lewis, 80, of Greenfield, passed away Dec. 29, 2014.  She was born on Dec. 5, 1934, in Indianapolis. She was one of nine children of the late Edward and Ethel (Kellermeier) Oliphant. She married George J. Lewis on June 21, 1958.

Mrs. Lewis graduated from Southport High School and attended Indiana Business College. She worked for Ford Motor Company for 13 years. She served as a Court Reporter for Judge White and as Secretary for Mayor William Blue. Mary Ann was a member of Bradley United Methodist Church, and she was involved in Tri Kappa, Democrat Women and United Methodist Women’s Association.  She served on the Riley Home Board, Park Cemetery Board, Country Club Board and served as Precinct Committee woman. Mary Ann was an avid bridge player and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mary Ann was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Her generosity and caring for others will always be remembered.

Survivors include her daughters, Jane A. Lewis (David Lahr) and Sarah A. (Dan) Payne both of Greenfield; granddaughters, Mariah (Dustin Ante) of Indianapolis and Hannah Payne of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Lewis; her parents; brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Services will also be held at the mortuary at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015. Mary Ann will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
