Sandra “Sandy” Sue Dragoo, 75, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014. She was born on May 31, 1938, in Muncie, the daughter of Charles M. and Lois (Elabarger) Dragoo.

Sandy graduated in 1956 from Burris Laboratory High School in Muncie. In 1960, she received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Indiana University. Miss Dragoo later received her Masters Degree of Art for Teaching in 1963, also from Indiana University.

Sandy worked as an English Teacher for 33 years, before retiring in 1993. She worked at Valparaiso for one year, followed by working in the Warren Township Schools for 32 years. She was a member of the Del Zeta Sorority at Indiana University, National Educational member, National Council of Teachers of English, Indiana Council of Teachers of English, Phi Lambda Theta – Teachers Honorary Sorority, and was also a member of Common Threads.

Sandra was truly a Renaissance woman, who had a variety of interests ranging from quilting to Baroque music to Native American history. She actively supported the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indiana Historical Society, Eiteljorg Museum and the Indiana State Museum. Nationally, she was a member of the Oregon Trail Association and made several trips west to participate in their activities.

She is survived by her dear friends, Earl and Peggy Milhon of Greenfield.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield with a Celebration of Sandy’s Life Service following immediately at 6 p.m.
