Earnest “Gene” Ashby
Earnest “Gene” Ashby, 85, a resident of Wilkinson, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at his residence.
He was born July 22, 1928, in Madison County, the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Audry Mae (Jacobs) Ashby.
He retired from Reynolds Farm Equipment after 10 years of service and was a lifelong farmer.
Survivors include three daughters, Diana Barton of Sylvia, N.C., Michelle Ashby of Wilkinson and Julie (Roy) Spencer of Pendleton; five grandsons, Tony Ashby and Kevin (Julie) Ashby, all of Greenfield, Ryan (Angela) Barton, Michael Spencer and Dakota Spencer, all of Pendleton; three granddaughters, Gena Ashby and Missy Day, both of Carthage, and Annie Fairchild of New Castle; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Ashby; son, Doyle Ashby; brother, Robert Ashby; and two sisters, Mary Lowe and Martha Sneed.
Friends will be received from 4 – 7 p.m., with the Memorial Service immediately following at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at Condo & Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson.
