Paul "Wayne" Carie, 69, of Vincennes, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at his residence. He was born June 25, 1943 in Tennessee to Paul and Lucille Erskine Carie and was raised in Vincennes.

Wayne was a Sergeant in the Army and was decorated for his service in Vietnam with many medals, including the Bronze star for heroic duties. He retired from the US Postal Service after 35 years as a letter carrier in the Indianapolis area and enjoyed doing custom woodworking projects. His memberships included the St. Thomas Catholic Church, the VFW, 40 et 8, NRA, and attended the St. Thomas grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School.

Surviving is his wife, Shirley (Hinds) Carie, whom he married April 30, 2009; brothers, Jim Carie of Greenfield, Rick Carie, and Steve Carie, both of Vincennes; a sister, Marsha Wykoff of West Lafayette; sons, Michael and Kelly Carie of Colorado; daughters, Stacey (Sean) Ambrose, and Susie (Chris) Jackson, both of New Palestine; step-children, William Kirk and Michael Kirk both of Evansville, and Robin (Bryan) Kirk-Hatz of Boonville; along with 4 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. before the Mass at Goodwin Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev. John Schipp and Deacon Earl Ruppel as celebrants.
