Francis E. Fairbanks, 86, of New Palestine, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on May 24, 1926, in White Earth, Minn., he was the son of William and Ida Fairbanks.
Francis retired from Naval Avionics, May of 1986. His favorite pastime was working in his yard and helping anyone who needed him.
Francis is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wilma (Graham) Fairbanks. They were blessed by daughter, Marty (Jack Harrison) Welter; and son, Roy (Jonie) Fairbanks. The joy of his life was his 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Ken (Mary Ann) Fairbanks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Doris Mitchell.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m.on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 U.S. Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, also at the mortuary. Pastor Paul Enyart will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
