Elmer Cropper, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away on Monday Oct. 15, 2012, in Shelbyville. The son of the late Dewey and Mildred (Turner) Cropper, he was born on July 3, 1930, in Lewis County Kentucky.

A 26 year resident of Shelbyville, Ind.; Elmer, most recently  worked for Do It Best Hardware in New Palestine,  prior to that Tweedy Lumber Company in Knightstown and was a local carpenter for many years.  He was a member of the Greenfield Wesleyan Church. He was an avid stamp and coin collector, loved doing wood working, crafts and word search puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Lucille (Dora) Cropper; daughters, Opal (Jim) Wilson of Texas, Brenda (Kevin) Brooks of Carthage, Jalene (Steve) Brown of Hendersonville, Tenn., Peggy Rogers of  Rockledge, Fla.; sons, Johnell (Terri) Rogers of Pendleton, Damon Rogers of Shelbyville, Brad (Heather) Rogers of Carthage; sisters, Helen Dearing of Flemingsburg, Ky., Ethel Jones of Lexington, Ky., Janet (Kenneth) Watson of Wallingford, Ky.; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Anna Lucille (Richmond) Cropper.

The funeral service is at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W Main St. Greenfield, IN, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Carthage.
