Betty J. Lackey, 88, Lapel, died on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at
Community Northview Care Center in Anderson, following an extended illness. She was born on June 9, 1924, in Spencer County, Ind. to Herman and Iva (Price) Varner.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, George Lackey; three children, Janine (Rod) Compton of Frankton, Stephen G. (Pam) Lackey of Anderson, and Brian C. Lackey of Bloomington; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, H. Jay (Kay) Varner of Batesville and Lionel G. (Gloria) Varner of Buford, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Elizabeth Sue Lackey.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel, with Pastors Dawn Cuthbert and Gary Elston officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
