Francis (Frank) Sturm, age 85 years, a resident of Greenfield, Ind., passed away on Thursday Oct. 20, 2011, at Kindred Healthcare, Greenfield. He was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Indianapolis, Ind., to the late Orville and Mary Jane (Chew) Sturm.
He was a US Army Para-Trooper in WWII, worked as manager at Smitherman Hatcheries for 33 years and as maintenance supervisor for Greenfield Central Schools for 15 years. He was a member of Trinity Park United Methodist Church, Hancock Masonic Lodge #101, Greenfield York Rite, KYCH and Marvin Isley York Rite College. Frank and Helen were longtime square-dancers with the Riley Wranglers.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Steelman) Sturm; sons, Gale (Cathy) Sturm, Steven(Norda) Sturm, Timothy (Mary Elizabeth) Sturm all of Greenfield; sisters, Marie Park of Indianapolis and Edith (Chuck) Swager of Howe, Ind.; brother, John W. (Virgina) Sturm of Mooresville; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Hollis Sturm and Charles Sturm.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be held at 1p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, at the funeral home. A burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield. Masonic services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
