Wendall M. Dake, 81, Fountaintown, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011. The son of Maurice and Sarah A. Entrekin Dake, he was born March 28, 1930, in Shelby County.
A U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran, Wendall owned Dake's Quality Electric Co. of Shelbyville.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Thompson Smith Dake; son, Jeff M. (Grace) Dake; daughters, Jean Marie (Bill) Overpeck and Julie Ann (Donny) McGugan; stepchildren, Becky Crawford, Tom (Treca) Smith and Joy (Dwight) Douglass; brother, Bill (Diana) Dake; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, LaVone Underwood Dake; sisters, June Brandman and Wilma Coronet; and stepdaughter, Jill Crawford.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Hendryx Mortuary, New Palestine Chapel, 19 East Main Street, New Palestine. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the chapel. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery.
