Rosemary Griffin, age 86, formerly of New Palestine, passed away at St. Clare Medical Center in Crawfordsville, Ind., on Friday, March 25, 2011. She was born on Feb. 7, 1925, in St. Bernice, Ind., to George M. and Vivian Nelgen Bain.
She married James L. Griffin on April 2, 1943, in Indianapolis and he passed away on Sept. 28, 1991. Her memberships include Community Christian Church, Home Ec Club at New Palestine, and 50 year member and Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She served as Secretary for the Hancock County Highway Dept. for 16 years from 1970-1986.
She is survived by two sons Gerald (Patty) Griffin of Pendleton and Douglas (Susie) Griffin of Cicero, two daughters, Belinda S. (John) Monts of Ladoga and Sandra K. (Tim) Paden of Ft. Wayne; 16 grandchildren; 7 great -grandchildren; brother, Jack E. Bain of Brownsburg; and a sister, Barbara J. (Kenny) Scheid of Terre Haute. She was preceded by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary of Greenfield. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Roselawn Cemetery in Terre Haute, Ind.
