Helen A. Davis, age 66, of McCordsville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born on May 19, 1944, in Winchester, Ind. to the late Byron and Myrtle L. (Seagraves) McLaughlin.
She held both a bachelors and a masters degree from Ball State University and served as a library assistant at Fortville Elementary for many years. Helen also volunteered at the Hope House in Greenfield. She was a proud active member of McCordsville United Methodist Church and chaired the Worship Committee. She was an instrumental member of the Building Committee, among many other things. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and was a devoted grandmother (“Nana”).
She is survived by her husband, Allan Davis, whom she married on June 10, 1972; daughter, Myra (Joe) Hess of McCordsville; son, Tim (Kristina) Davis of McCordsville; and grandchildren, Molly and Jonah Hess, and Ella and Evangeline Davis.
Helen was preceded in passing by her brother, Kim McLaughlin.
The calling was from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fortville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at McCordsville United Methodist Church.
