Read with a pro football player with this free event

GREENFIELD — Kids in preschool through grade 3 — along with an adult — can visit the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 1 when former National Football League players Matt Overton and Junior Aumavae will read aloud. The men will share stories of how reading prepared them to reach for excellence and become professional football players. Hard work, passion and determination are what it took for Junior Aumavae to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University and enter the professional ranks with the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets. Matt Overton, too, played college football at Western and later played for the Indianapolis Colts, going to the NFL’s Pro Bowl in 2013. This event is hosted by Elite Athletic Trend, a non-profit organization based in Greenfield that prepares youth in the community for leadership and competition through mentoring, athletics, and life skills development. Sign up for this free event at hcplibrary.org or by calling 317-462-5141, ext. 238. Come to the library’s GBC community room.
