Area soccer players selected for national team
Officials of Indy Premier Soccer Club (Indy Premier) recently announced the roster for their U17 Girls Elite 2003 team, which has qualified for the US Soccer 2019-20 National League.
Brianna Linton, from Mt. Vernon, and Kelsi McLaughlin, from Greenfield-Central, will be part of the 16-player team, just the fourth every from Indiana to make the US Soccer National League.
The team will play in the National League on weekends from December through March in North Carolina, Florida and Nevada.

Dragons top preseason football poll
The defending state champion New Palestine Dragons sit atop the Indiana Football Coaches Association preseason poll, receiving nine out of 10 first-place votes to lead the way in Class 5A. The Mt. Vernon Marauders are receiving votes in Class 4A.
