Local students make president’s list at University of Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — The University of Alabama recently named two local students to its president’s list. To be included on the president’s list, students must be full-time students with a 4.0 academic record. Among the students are: Madison Smith, McCordsville; Adam Brickens, New Palestine. Local students earn honors from University of Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio — Kennedy Hale, McCordsville, was among the approximately 1,900 undergraduates who received their degrees from the University of Dayton during the spring 2019 commencement ceremony.

Connor Curts, also of McCordsville, earned a spot on the 2019 spring dean’s list with a minimum 3.5 grade-point average.

Franklin College announces 2019 graduates

FRANKLIN — Franklin College’s 2019 commencement ceremony took place May 18 in Spurlock Center Gymnasium on the Franklin College campus.

The college conferred 219 undergraduate degrees and 14 graduate degrees, including degrees to several Hancock County residents.

Marissa Douglas, Greenfield, received a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education.

Tapanga Gauck, Greenfield, received a bachelor of arts degrees in Spanish and Spanish secondary education. She graduated cum laude. She received the Spanish Service Award. She is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Student Athlete Honor Society, the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society and Alpha Mu Gamma Modern Languages Honor Society.

Charles Hill Jr., New Palestine, received a bachelor of arts degree in social studies secondary education. He graduated magna cum laude. He received the Interfraternity Scholarship Award and the Indiana Outstanding Future Educator Award. He is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma Student Athlete Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society.

Matthew Powell, Fortville, received a bachelor of arts degree in business (management and marketing). He graduated cum laude. He is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta First-Year Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma Student Athlete Honor Society and Omicron Delta Kappa Gold Quill Chapter.

Tyler Reed, New Palestine, received a bachelor of arts degree in business management. He is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma Student Athlete Honor Society.
