GREENFIELD — Seth Morrison, general manager of Greenfield’s incoming Buffalo Wild Wings, was told by his superiors that the city was excited for the popular chain sports bar come to town. But he never expected the enthusiastic response they’ve received since the restaurant began construction, he said.

Buffalo Wild Wings will open its doors to the public Nov. 1, Morrison said. The building is expected to complete construction this month, and staff members are aiming to become a thriving member of Greenfield’s community, he said.

Until that day comes, however, they’re looking for folks to join their team.

Management will be holding open interviews for all positions from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. next week at the restaurant’s location, 1791 Muskegon Drive, Morrison said. The restaurant has upward of 90 available positions, including servers, cashiers and cooks, he said.

Morrison, along with fellow manager Eric Morris, moved from the Buffalo Wild Wings in Avon work at the Greenfield location. It’s been exciting to bring a store from the ground up, Morrison said.

“It has been crazy,” Morrison said. “I’ve been walking around wearing my (uniform) shirt at Walmart, and getting stopped five or six times everywhere I go, people asking when we’re opening.”

The restaurant’s main dining area will seat about 100 people, and the bar will seat an additional 50, Morrison said. In addition to seating within the 5,000-square-foot building, Morrison said he expects their patio area will be a big draw to local diners. They have plans to have several TVs hooked up outside, and they’re exploring other possibilities for how they can use their outdoor space before the weather turns too cold.

The bar’s operating hours are not locked in, but Morrison expects to learn them from corporate soon.

And there’s no word yet on what might move in next door, officials said. The four remaining storefronts in the new plaza are still up for lease.

Greenfield resident Brianna Wilburn said when she found out the restaurant chain was headed to town, she and her husband were ecstatic.

“That’s where we go to treat ourselves,” Wilburn said. “Whenever we have date night, (Buffalo Wild Wings) is our favorite spot to go, but we always drive 45 minutes to go to the one in Anderson. Now we can stop wasting gas.”

Buffalo Wild Wings is happy to be bringing jobs and its own unique sports-bar atmosphere to the city, Morrison said. He and his co-workers have been actively reaching out to people around Greenfield, getting a feel for what people are looking for, and they have high-hopes for the future, he said.

“I think we’ll bring an energy to the community, which is kind of exciting,” Morrison said.

Morris agreed, adding that they are aiming to create an atmosphere where people feel like they’re just watching the next big game at home on a lazy afternoon.

Greenfield is an exciting city to put down roots in, which gets the Buffalo Wild Wings team excited to meet the expectations the community has for them, Morris said.

“We want that ‘welcome to our house,’ kind of environment,” Morris said. “A place where the TVs are going, the beer’s flowing and the wings are coming in.”
