Marauders cruise on Senior Night

Mt. Vernon defeated Lawrence Central 7-0 at Thursday’s Senior Night game.

Cleo Mills had two goals and an assist, Shay Stindle had two goals, Riley Hurst had a goal and two assists, Rylie Pearson added a goal and Alexi Hardie had a goal and an assist.

Cougars get past Yorktown

Greenfield-Central pulled away from a tie game at the half Wednesday, getting a conference win against Yorktown, 3-1.

The game was tied 1-1 at halftime with a Tyler Murphy goal with an assist from Derek Owen. Caleb Mundell scored two second-half goals with one assist from Tyler Murphy to get the Cougars the win.

Royals lose close match

Eastern Hancock dropped a close match to Anderson, falling 3-2 at home.

The Royals picked up their two points at the doubles positions, with the No. 1 doubles team of Peyton Robertson and Brady Ellis winning 6-0, 6-0, and the No. 2 doubles team of Sammy Blocher and Kegan Kendall winning 6-0, 6-7(7-9), 6-3. 

Marauders top Alexandria

Mt. Vernon bounced back from a tough loss against New Palestine with a 4-1 win Wednesday against Alexandria.

Mt. Vernon got wins from J.D. Cohee at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2, Chris Hays at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, Sam McCarty at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, and the No. 2 doubles team of Jackson Dunlavy and Sam Frye, 6-2, 6-4.

Cougars fall to Yorktown

Greenfield-Central traveled to Yorktown on Wednesday, dropping a 4-1 decision to the hosts.

Robbie Dye won his second match in a row at No. 3 singles to give the Cougars their one point. The No. 2 doubles team of Kane Bradley and Seth Kirkpatrick barely lost a close, three-set match.

Marauders sweep Triton

Mt. Vernon used aggressive serving to put separation between themselves and a tough Triton Central team Wednesday, sweeping their way to a 25-14, 25-13, 25-16 win.

Claire Ertel posted a double/double with 13 kills and 10 digs. Cecilia Bulmahn led the defense with 12 digs while Lillie Perdue and Sophie Schultz each posted 11 digs as well. Perdue and Ertel each served up four aces.

Royals sweep Tri

Eastern Hancock picked up its seventh win of the season Wednesday, sweeping Tri 25-15, 25-13, 25-10.

The Royals move to 7-14 on the season wih the win.

Cougars fall to Yorktown

Greenfield-Central faced off against the Yorktown Tigers at home Wednesday night in an HHC conference match. The Cougars put up a great defensive effort, but fell short in a three set loss, 25-15, 25-13, 25-10.

Greenfield-Central set a new season high, recording 25 digs per set, the second highest total under coach Travis Fuller.
