GREENFIELD — Members of the Greenfield Fire Territory hosted the department’s inaugural Pumper Pull, a fundraiser to further the fight against cancer, on Saturday

The fire department shut down the street in front of its fire station in downtown Greenfield, 17 W. South St., for a makeshift festival, featuring live music, an auction, bounce houses for kids and a beer garden.

The main event was the Pumper Pull, where teams of five raced to see who could pull a fire engine down a stretch of pavement the fastest.

All money collected during the event will benefit the department’s benevolent fund as well as the Firefighter Cancer Support Network and the American Cancer Society.
